
The primary focus of Summer Soul Surf Camp is to SURF! Whether you are a beginner or advanced surfer our coaching methods will have you up and riding and perfecting your style. Gain confidence in the water with experienced instructors who share a passion for teaching and surfing. CPR and first aid certified team members are enthusiastic professionals committed to being role models both in and out of the water.
Each morning campers learn about major muscle groups and the importance of warming up your body to avoid injury. In the water instructor to camper ratio is 1 to 4. To insure fun, safe surf instruction campers wear uniformed Surf Camp rash guards and are placed into one of the following groups:
Beginner Surfers:
This group has either never surfed before or have only surfed a few times. Lesson begins on the beach to review equipment and body position. Campers learn about:
• Basic water safety, ocean tides and currents
• Reading the swell & paddling out
• Standing up and how to fall safely
• Wave & beach selection for your skill level
• How to take care of your equipment
• Surf etiquette and surf culture
Intermediate Surfers:
These surfers are riding waves and making turns. Campers learn about:
• Basic water safety, ocean tides and currents
• Wave & beach selection for your skill level
• Big wave confidence; How to paddle through big sets
• Correct stance and body position
• Maneuvers
• Surf etiquette and surf culture
Advanced Surfers:
This group can bring their own hard boards and will surf with other advanced surfers. Personal coaching and critique offered by professional surfers. Campers work on: style, speed and performance.
